9 Major Problems of Pregnancy And How to Cure Easily?

Pregnancy Problems Pregnancy Problems #1

Morning sickness – a feeling of nausea and actual vomiting on waking – is very common in the early weeks of pregnancy. Usually the expectant mother feels quite well for the rest of the day, and simple treatment with glucose drinks on waking is all that is required. In severe cases, the doctors may prescribe a long-acting antihistamine drug to prevent nausea, and this can be taken at night before going to bed; it is still effective in the morning.

Pregnancy Problems #2

Excessive vomiting throughout the day, known medically as hyperemesis gravidarom, is a more serious problem, and if it does not respond to simple drug treatment, a stay in hospital may be needed. Almost invariably the vomiting stops within hours of admission suggesting that the conditiorl has a psychological element.

Pregnancy Problems #3

Many pregnant women find they have a strong craving for unusual foods – sausages or bananas, or even an inedible substance such as coal. One theory is that this craving is due to a deficiency of iron, and treatment with iron tablets is usually effective.

Pregnancy Problems #4

Heartburn is a common problem, and is caused when swelling of the abdomen alters the angle at which the gullet enters the stomach. As with other problems of pregnancy that are caused by physical factors, the treatment is limited to relieving the symptoms. This is done by giving antacid preparations, and by advising the patient to sleep propped up in bed.

Problems of Pregnancy #5

Varicose veins and hemorrhoids are also the result of the mechanical stresses of pregnancy. Treatment of the symptoms is generally all that is required, and both conditions commonly cease once the baby is born. Bandaging of the legs and periods or rest in the afternoon ease varicose veins, constipation aggravates hemorrhoids, and should be prevented by a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Problems of Pregnancy #6

Toxaemia of pregnancy is a condition of unknown cause affecting mainly the kidneys. It is more common in women expecting their first baby. The blood pressure rises, the urine is found to contain proteins, and the weight gain is excessive because the body retains salt and water instead of eliminating them in the urine. Untreated toxaemia (also known as preeclampsia), can lead to the dangerous condition of eclampsia, in which a series of convulsions is followed by premature labour.

Without exception, eclampsia can be prevented by proper treatment of toxaemia. One of the main purposes of antenatal care is the detection of early signs of toxaemia swelling of the ankles, traces of protein in the urine, slight rises of blood pressure, or excess gain in weight. Even if the expectant mother feels perfectly fit, she should have regular medical checks. Mild toxaemia is treated simply by rest; occasionally a stay in hospital may be required. Drug treatment with sedatives and hypotensive drugs may also be needed in a few cases.

Problems of Pregnancy #7

Rhesus problems may arise during pregnancy in a woman with rhesus negative blood who is married to a man that has rhesus positive blood. In the past, she ran the risk of having her babies affected by a blood disorder. Antibodies formed in the mother’s body against the rhesus factor present in the blood cells of a rhesus positive baby cause this condition. But today rhesus negative women can be reassured that this condition cap be prevented. Rhesus disease develops after rhesus positive blood enters the circulation of a rhesus negative woman: a mismatched blood transfusion, an abortion, or the birth of a baby. If a special antibody is given to the woman within a few hours of any of these events, no reaction occurs.

Pregnancy Problems  #8

An attack of rubella (German measles) in the second or third month of pregnancy may cause deformities in the unborn baby, including deafness, blindness and heart disease. For this reason, most doctors regard such an illness as medical-grounds for an abortion. The problem should become less common with the increasing use of rubella vaccine.

Pregnancy Problems  #9

After the first six weeks or so of pregnancy, warning signs of a possible abortion are bleeding from the vagina and colicky pain in the lower abdomen. Rest in bed for a few days may preserve the pregnancy; but if the embryo has died the abortion is inevitable.

Repeated miscarriages may be caused by a defect in the womb or because the hormones are not functioning properly; in many cases there is no obvious cause. Treatment is usually a combination of rest in early pregnancy combined with drug treatment. Physical defects can sometimes be corrected surgically.
